They’ve gone looking for mirrors that give a glimpse into heaven.
They go to carnivals mostly: carnivals have entire houses of mirrors.
The carnies wait outside the entrance, the glow of their nicotine fingers summoning the wanderers like moths to the pheromones on your old denim jacket.

There are rules you have to follow in haunted houses if you want to survive:
Like, borrow a palm from the air & trap it between both of your own hands before screaming,
& say forgive as a new face is stitched over yours while you learn how to haunt your own body.

Take a vitamin, kid. Drink some water. The world is a big place.
There’s more out there to see. More than reflections.
More than unfixed flaws.

You were here. You were seen.
I was just on the other side of the mirror.
